Brenau University Department of Dance with the support of the Georgia Council of the Arts’ Vibrant Community Grant is inviting you to the first concert dedicated to dances from around the world.

May 11th: 6pm

May 12th: 3pm

The concert will feature community members, Brenau faculty/staff/students, Gainesville High School Theatre/Dance students, and special guests Capoeira Maculele Decatur, Ballet Mexicano de Lupita Sosa, Miranda Burgo (Dominican Republic), Zenai Alonso (Mexican Huapango), FAFAA Dance Ensemble (Ghana), and Master Drummer Kofi Mawuko.

The purpose of the project supported by the Georgia Council of the Arts’ Vibrant Community Grant is to expose different cultural forms to Gainesville and Hall County’s diverse population. Throughout the rehearsal time the intention was to demonstrate activities for all bodies to engage in a meaningful exchange by sharing cultural practices in the form of music and dance. The process presents an opportunity for a cultural exchange where informative and historical dialogue will take place. We envision that the project turns into a highly anticipated annual event that grows every year. We hope that this project and concert will occur annually to prepare and engage participants and various communities to feel confident for audiences to experience a vibrant concert.
